Weekly chore: grocery shopping...

I love it when grocery stores attempt to make grocery shopping a tad bit more of a pleasant experience, especially when kids are in tow. One of the local stores here, Pay Less (a grocery store, not the shoe store...same thing as a Smith's or Fred Meyer's out West) gives free cookies at the bakery to the kiddos. We are probably not Pay Less's favorite customers because we ONLY shop the sales there and since they give us awesome coupons in the mail, we are getting items that are not only sale items but we have a coupon for as well. Yes, cheap and proud of it :)

So, we probably only go to Pay Less once a month, if even that. And Brycen has gotten two cookies over the course of this year (we had just recently learned about the cookie thing) but what a memory he has! We walked in and he marched straight to the bakery. On the way though, the balloon lady asked if he could have/wants a free Toy Story 3 balloon. Hm...of course! And on the end of the balloon's string was a Dum-Dum to make sure it didn't fly away. I'm pretty sure Brycen was in his own version of heaven. Even in heaven he remembers his manners though, and waved while saying, "Thank you, See you later!" (he kinda slurs it all together, so I'm pretty sure (positive, actually) that they had no idea what he said but I did, and they thought he was adorable so that's all that really matters :)

When I dressed him for the day, I had no idea it was going to be in the mid-70s. He was a sweatin.

But that balloon sure kept him happy. Drove me nuts...but kept him happy.

Trying to get a tired, sweaty toddler and all the groceries indoors from the parking lot by myself can be a challenge (yes, I am a firm, stubborn believer in only making one trip :)) but thankfully, there was a stroller in the trunk....and Brycen LOVES strollers these days (yep...used to hate them, before that, loved them...always changes, I just smile and nod :) so he gladly hopped right in. I was thinking "great!" his weight will surely hold the stroller down so I can put all the grocery bags on the handles and push away. Hm...nope. I was mid-way through putting the groceries on the hooks; turned to grab another, turned back around, and the stroller had fallen back, suddenly leaving Brycen horizontal.

I wish I took a picture because it was quite humorous but it caught me so off guard, all I could think about was making sure Brycen was okay and getting him back up before he could freak out (which I guess.... IS more important than a picture :)) Brycen was a good sport though and helped me weigh down the front end so I could get the stroller inside and the door unlocked without having the stroller fall back again, bruising my bananas even more (I'm not a huge banana fan in the first place, but I eat them to be healthy and thus, I am very particular about my bananas...they basically have to be perfect, yellow, not in any way brown).

Anyways...slight tangent, haha, but here's the final result of our grocery shopping experience: and yes, my bananas survived...as for the bruised ones...well, that's what husbands are for :)

HEY! Thanks for the comments! I don't know if I have seen your blog before, but I love it! Your family pics are adorable. We need to get some done sooo bad... but I hate spending money. And all my photo-taking friends/relatives are far away. Oh well. Sometime.

you get coupons for Pay Less? We never go there. I need to remember about the cookie thing. What a fun time, and I can just picture that stroller falling over and the look on Brycen's face through it all!

Agreed with the one trip from the car to the house business.

I just can't believe your weather is warmer than Vegas! It was in the 60's today. I can never get my groceries in one trip so I don't even try. Good for you though!
