Off to Work, Mommy!

While cleaning and organizing Brycen's room last week, Brycen rediscovered a little back pack that Aunt Katie gave him a few months ago. He immediately wanted to put it on and after helping him do so, he headed out his bedroom door--declaring that he was going to work, just like Daddy. "See ya later, Mom! Love you!" He then closed the bedroom door, with the destination of the front door being next.

Well, his dream came true this morning when he got to ride the bus to work with Daddy to go to a breakfast, held in honor of Bryce's professor winning the National Medal of Innovation and Technology, last week (which can be read about here--Bryce even made it in the picture) so that Mommy could attend her Doctor's appointment.

In preparation for the "big" day, Mommy picked out Brycen's clothes last night and Brycen packed his back pack which included his little play computer (to be just like Daddy) and an extra pair of clothes...just in case, he got too excited and had a little accident. Brycen could barely contain his excitement when he woke up on his own, right on time this morning, exclaiming, "Brycen go to work with Daddy!"

As soon as I got him dressed, he yelled upstairs to Daddy, "Brycen's ready, Dad!"
This morning was definitely colder than it has been and so I pulled out Brycen's gloves. It has obviously been awhile since we have needed them because while I was putting them on, Brycen asked, "blue socks for Brycen's hands, Mom?" Haha! I then told him they are called gloves and he said, "Ooo, gloves!"
Heading out to the bus stop. "Love you, Mom! I'm going on a bus to work!"

It was adorable and I loved watching them walk off together but....I'm also pretty sure I nearly cried. I didn't want him to necessarily be sad leaving me behind, but after staying home with me day after day, all his life...maybe a last look back? A little hesitation?

Oh, well. Good practice for Kindergarten some day, right?

As for my doctor's appointment: I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and dilated to a 1cm! I know it's not much and can potentially not mean a whole lot as some people dilate and then stay like that for weeks. However, the fact that 1 cm is a centimeter more than I ever did on my own with Brycen (at 41 weeks)... I was/am very excited! Hopefully, one step closer to going into labor on my own.

As for when I picked up my little man from campus after the appointment, Bryce said that everyone loved seeing Brycen and when I asked Brycen, he told me he had fun with Daddy but that he now wanted to go in the blue car with Mommy.

Yay! I was ready for him to come home with me too. :)

I'm sure he was only so good about it because he was with his daddy. Kindergarten might be a little different.

Keep eating, resting, and cookin' that baby! :D

How fun! Autumn is already cute enough with the things she says now, so I can't wait until she pieces sentences together like this. Brycen is such a riot! I hope they had a great time!
